Spring 2017’s It color: Greenery
The color of the year 2017 is greenery. To me this color looks like Kermit the frog. Don’t get me wrong, I liked him when I was a kid and the color looks great on him. Greenery is an awesome spring color that looks like the fresh leaves coming out. What is not to love about this color? I love the fresh leaves of spring. Especially, in Alaska, where green-up is like turning a switch. All trees are green from one day to the other.
Fashion over 40 and Pantome trend colors
When you are in the same boat, you still can update your wardrobe. Just skip greenery and go down the list of the top ten 2017 colors: Niagara, primrose yellow, lapis blue, flame, island paradise, pale dogwood, pink yarrow, kale and hazelnut. They had me at Niagara, lapis blue and kale (see photos below). Which is your favorite?
Hazelnut is the most risky color for us over 40. It is in the range of colors typically associated with the uniform of Old People. In other words, it is very difficult to wear and not look old unless hazelnut is one of your natural neutrals.
Tip: When the colors of the year aren’t belonging to your best colors go for a hue that is closer to you palette, i.e. warmer or colder, muted, tinted or pastel or even its analog color.
Look on trend without breaking the bank with this trick
Learn how to pretend to wear Pantome fashion colors. There is no need to toss everything and replace it with the 2017 It colors. Nobody runs around with the Pantome colors of the year chart, right? Thus, riot your closet for colors close to the 2017 Top 10. Last year’s serenity can go for island paradise, rose quartz for pale dogwood. Fall’s yellow can serve for primrose yellow. Look for royal blue items and wear them instead of lapis blue. You have some coral pieces? There is your flame update. When olive or sage are in your neutral palette you can substitute kale with them. Now check which color of the top ten is not covered, but flatters you. That’s the color to update your wardrobe with.
Wearing olive instead of kale with stripes of flame, Niagara, and pink yarrow
Substituting primrose yellow and pink yarrow with sunflower yellow and pink
Thus, look for a trendy item in that color if you consider the color as a fashion color. If you think you will wear that item also next year, go for a high quality item. For instance, a silk scarf where the “missing” It color is one of several colors that are in your palette.
How to add greenery
If you want to wear the It color greenery, but it is not flattering on you, use it in small accents away from your face like I do in the outfit photo below.
How do you deal with fashion colors that are not so you? Skip them? Or do you go with something close to the color, but a color that is in your color palette? Which color will you stock up on? Let me know, I am curious.

Top of the World OOTD from the last party
Fabe Fashion became Top of the World OOTD Readers’ Fav as you clicked her post the most. Her cool winter outfit add the right pop of color to up the mood on a gray winter day. The scarf also provides a cozy vibe to the look.
Grace the blogger at Color and Grace became Top of the World OOTD My Fav. Doesn’t she look stunning in her little red dress? I love how she added an edge to the sweetness of the dress with the leather necklace and box clutch. The minimalism with respect to accessories makes the LRD the statement. <3
