Sure jeans and a T-shirt or sweater are the typical Casual Friday goto. However, there are so many more options to switch things up fashion-wise on Fridays. This post provides an outfit idea with tall boots.

The anatomy of a great Casual Friday outfit
Today’s look is composed of my closet “basics” – a straight skirt, a sweater, denim jacket and tall riding boots. It’s a goto styling recipe that works with any knee length or slightly above the knee pencil wool skirt, no matter whether it is made from tweed, has a houndstooth, glencheck, or tartan pattern. In this look of the day, I made the jacket the statement with its sequin patches. The look would also work well with a plain jean jacket and for winter to spring transition outfit with a white one. See for instance, my best ways to get a great spring look in this post.
At this time a year, whenever there is fresh snow, flat ageless style tall boots are a Must when you have to park in an unplowed parking lots. Booties would be too short and fill up with the non-sticky snow that is typical when temperatures are below freezing but in the single digits (around -15oC). And of course, parking lots are the last that is cleaned. 😉
Variations of the look
Instead of the all American jean jacket, a leather bomber or biker do the trick too. It’s a perfect way to dress up Casual Friday with a skirt when you are a skirt/dress gal like me.
When the weather gets warmer than it is now towards the end of winter, swaping the flanel tights for pantyhose and adding cableknit socks that peek out of the top of the knee high boots are a great option. Flat loafers and pantyhose instead of black tall boots and tights and a cardigan instead of a jacket turn this all American Classic look into a great Euro Chic style. Add pearls and it turns from Casual Friday to a Business Casual all weekday look.

Welcome to the 193rd Top of the World Style linkup party.
You clicked Julie’s post the most. She blogs about lifestyle at This Main Line Life. She “declustered” her walk-in closet. Do you think walk-in closets are a dream or a nightmare? I can’t wait to do the winter to summer transition on mine. But that won’t happen any time soon. March can still bring 40 below here at the Last Frontier.
I picked Grace’s airport look with a fake pants suit. She blogs at Color and Grace. Her look is first class worthy.
Naihil, the blogger at Thirty Minus One became the Top of the World Style Winner. Isn’t her dalmatiner animal print stunning?
