Look polished in sneakers like Karlie Kloss

How to wear sneakers today

Sneakers are an it item this season. Well, they had been it in the 80s when everybody run around with a suit and sneakers. We looked great and fashionably stylish back then. However, wearing the look the same way, we would look so yesteryear, and so Old Lady.

When a trend exists the second time around, make sure you know how to style it this time around to not look Old Lady and yesterday. #styletips #fashionover50 Click To Tweet

What we can learn from Karlie Kloss

This time around, it is not the white clunky tennis shoe anymore! Go for a dressy sneaker, colorful, embellished, metallic, may be with slight wedge heel, but most importantly much, a much slimmer version than the sneakers of the 80s.

Invest in a slim, non-cluncky pair of sneakers for a posh urban look with sneakers. #sneakerstyle Click To Tweet

Always make sure you wear re-surfaced old trends the new way! In other words, drop the old fashion rules like no white after Labor Day, or in the case of the sports shoe trend, white tennis shoes with white socks blue acid wash jeans and wide shoulder blazer and/or sweater. So 80s, so Old Lady.

How not to wear sneakers today

Avoid styling them with washed out jeans or a pants suit. Think Karlie Kloss wearing a camel coat, white jeans, slim white sneakers and a white shirt doing her famous walk.

How I wear my sneakers

In this styling example, I went for wearing the silver sneakers with leather pants, a button-up shirt, pearls, and a trench coat that I wore instead of a blazer for Casual Friday.
