When you follow me on Pinterest you know that I have “lookbook” boards for each month of the year. I have no clue why it never occurred to me to show you a monthly look book on the blog. Thus, this post is all about outfits I wore this month, but hadn’t posted about. Time was the limiting factor. I know my former adviser always used to say
The day has 24 hour and when that's not enough add the night. - Erhard Raschke #quote Click To Tweet
Of course, we students hated that cool saying back in graduate school.
Even Though up here in the Subarctic days have really 24 hours of day light, which is very energizing, I need my 8 hours or so of beauty sleep. 😉
What I wore in February
Science outreach event
In January, the Science for Alaska Series started. Scientists of the university give talks about their research. Typically, the speaker is introduced by the institute director. Since he was out of town, I had to jump in to introduce my colleague at the venue. I went for a business casual femimine look with a sheath and cardigan. The audience typically dresses outdoorsy or very old worn out clothes when a talk is about climate and has a provocative title like “Some like it hot.” The follwoing photos are from the venue that took place at Ravens Landing a senior living center in Fairbanks. You can find further speaker dressing inspirations in my posts on my Fairbanks air quality Rotary lunch speech and professional looks for a science conference.

Other business casual outfits
I love the combination of brown with pink/fuchsia. I combined my over-the-knee boots with my leather skirt for the office. These OTK boots were a real bargain. I found them and the skirt both on eBay. One of my tricks to score high on eBay is to buy off season. Read the linked post when you are interested in the other six tips.

Styling a summer dress in winter
In March, I start adding pieces from the warm season to my outfits as a winter to spring transition. This year, I was a little bit earlier as a Chinook brought some pleasant warm air. Ok, ok, what an Alaskan woman thinks is warm. Temperatures were still below freezing. But compared to 40 below they are warm and not worth wearing a bikini look.

British Classic
This outfit is what I call my British Classic. The recipe is take a pair of pants, a heavy wool glen check blazer (best with corduroy details), cardigan and romantic blouse or collar and, of course, chelsea booties.

Color blocking
Color blocking is always a great idea. Here I went with orange and burgundy. You can find another color blocking inspiration at the link.

Styling outerwear
When you are a regular reader, you know that I am a big fan of styling outerwear. It’s an outfit too. Thus, why not styling it? It keeps me out of winter wardrobe boredom. As you see, I finally found a pair of white booties.
