Chinook Permitted Many Fall Looks
When you are a regular reader you may already know that the transition from summer to winter and vice versa is usually less than a months or so. Thus, this post has many fall outfit ideas to try including some summer to fall transition outfits.
Living in Interior of Alaska since nearly two decades taught me that snow falling after October 10 typically lasts until spring. We got the first snow in September, but it lasted. Later in Occtober, we had some Chinook events. Despite chinook translates to snow eater, the snow remained in the shadows. However, for running errands pumps still worked (see photo below). 😉

What I Wore in Interior Alaska In October
Fall Business Casual Outfits
The navy blue coat dress in the photos below is a thrift store find for $15. I like the tailored cut. It gives my straight-up-and-down body some shape. Despite I wasn’t in need for a work dress, I bought it because the cut is very classic, and the color is a neutral. Thus, it seemed a good find and opportunity to stock up on high quality work gear. It is also great to pack for a business trip.

Early in October, I used the colors of my new sweater for an outfit idea. The green circles inspired me to pair it with my A-line style silk skirt and the navy cardigan. I bought this all neutral color piece on sale when on a business trip in DC. The salesperson tried to sell me also the matching cardigan, but I resisted. Why should I buy it, when I have a navy cardigan that also make a need faux twinset with the sweater. More is just more, and not necessarily better. It’s so important to know when to splurge or bargain, don’t you think so?

The look below feature a fit-and-flare knit-dress with leather jacket. The bold colors and pattern were what made me buy it. Ok, I am also a fit-and-flare dress kind of gal. I really love my Karina Dresses. The black stripes inspired me to wear the piece with a black leather jacket to the office.

Weekend Style
The look in the next two photos served for shopping on a weekend. I don’t remember how long this tunic dress already has a place in my closet. Early on, I wore it without tights even on rainy days in summer. Recall summer rainy days have temperatures around 50 to 60 F (10 to 15oC) in the Interior. However, today, it’s a fall weekend favorite with tights, pants or leggings. I like my hems about 4 inch longer than this dress’ hem when going bare legs. Dress-over-pants is a big Do this season. Has your comfort-hem length also moved south over time?

The look below is another weekend casual, but this time with tunic and jeans.

What to Wear for Snow
The following outfit ideas work well on days when the first snow is on the ground. Typically, temperatures are just a couple of degrees below the freezing point.

Date Night Out
The look below shows a pink striped dress that I wore going out with my husband.

Dear Nicole, I love your feminine and elegant outfits so much. You look adorable in all looks.
It’s funny, the last time I went shopping, I wore a black and white skirt suit that is a bit similar to your first outfit with the Banana Republic skirt and the sweater west 😉
Greetings from Vienna to Alaska, Nadine
Aw, thanks so much for the feature, Nicole! I really enjoy how creative you get with your style as your transition into the winter months. We have a very short fall here as well. But the October snow still melts, thankfully. But once the November and December snow comes, then we will see no grass until late spring.

Some great outfits! I love the Victoria Beckham dress print tunic and the green skirt work look.
You have some lovely clothes, Nicole! I’m really drawn to the green skirt and navy blue outfit, in particular—absolutely gorgeous! I also love your leopard print Aldo pumps!

Love your fit-and-flare Karina dress and your new navy and green sweater, Nicole!! We had a rather sudden change from summer to autumn in Vancouver, too; but the upside has been the most vibrant fall foliage I can ever remember seeing here!! XO Monika
