My favorite formal dress from JJsHouse’s collection

I fell in love with this A-line Princess V-neck, knee-length chiffon mother-of-the-bride dress from them. Yes, as you know, I don’t have kids. So why did I choose this beauty?

Well, this dress is an eternal classic. The vertical lines of the Princess cut give the illusion of height and have a slimming effect. The flared skirt can hide hips or the lack thereof. Thus, it is flattering on nearly every woman!

Tip: Check their size chart for perfect fit.

Furthermore, there is so much more to this classic gown than being only perfect to make an entrance at your child’s formal wedding! One can also wear it easily for dancing the night away at any evening (wedding) party or at a semi-formal ball, a semi-formal fund-raising dinner, … and that is what I will do.

Third, I love the contrast between the fabrics and colors. It makes you stick out of the crowd of solid color dresses.

Elegant, sophisticated, sexy, cool,… the vibe is at your finger tips

The contrast between the black lace and the innocent chiffon provides a sophisticated, understated sexy allure when the chiffon is nude, ivory or any shade of light pink. In red chiffon, the vibe of dress turns to dazzling sexy. You can go the elegant route with champagne, dark green, royal blue, blue, navy or black chiffon you. It’s in your hands to define who you are.

Tip: In your color choice also consider the color of the the bridal party as you will be in many photos together and don’t want the colors to clash.

How to style a mother-of-the-bride dress with the weather in mind

Let’s go back to looking your best at your kid’s big day. When a religious ceremony is involved, a shawl, short bolero jacket or shawl poncho are perfect to cover your arms. JJsHouse have a great, affordable collection of these pieces too. Either match the color of the skirt, use a similar shade as the skirt, a matching neutral shade when adding a faux fur shawl, or go for black. (Open-toe) pumps in the color of the skirt, black, metallic, or nude are great options. Add a small satin bag/clutch in the color of the satin of the dress. A metallic clutch is a great option too. Under all circumstances resist to match the material of the clutch/bag with that of the shoes!

Tip for respectful styling: Don’t wear any of jewelry of your own fate at a religious ceremony of different fate.

When a walk from the place to the ceremony to a restaurant is involved, make sure you have sunglasses and an umbrella that match the dress in place. JJsHouse has a collections of these items too. On the day of the wedding, you take the one or the other weather-related accessory with you depending on the forecast.

Pick your shoes with the location in mind

When you wear the dress at your kid’s outside late-afternoon wedding reception, wear wedge strappy sandals or ballet flats instead of pumps. You don’t want to perforate whose ever lawn. Also make sure you have sunglasses that match the style of the dress. Don’t forget to reapply sunscreen. Read more on dressing for an afternoon wedding.

How to wear the gown later

For semi-formal dance or weddings parties, strappy heels are a great stylish match. When your work-dress code permits bare arms and open-toe pumps add evening shoes and wear this mother-of-the-bride dress for a semi-formal holiday party. Add leg cover that is in line with the code. The ballet inspired style looks great with nude fishnets. Avoid black fishnets as then the outfit would look like a costume.

Tip: As long as the attendees of the events are from a different crowd, you can wear this mother-of-the-bride dress more than once.
