Blue and white are an evergreen classic

As a kid, I loved my Granny’s white and blue china that showed old Dutch landscapes. As a teenager, one of my style crushes was night blue jeans with a white T-shirt and a whimsical necklace. Of course, I never had a pair, and a T-shirt was considered American underwear, i.e. it was not modest to wear it. My first pair of jeans were hand-me-down Wranglers from my Mom’s best girlfriend’s son.

In my twenties, the love for dark blue plus white continued. It was my “summer-in-the-Provence” style phase, shortly before I enrolled at the Université de Clermont-Ferrand in France. In the 80s, it was the blue suit with white button-down shirt. In the 90s, I had a blue and white polka dot skirt suit. I finally bought the night blue jeans, but paired them with a white button-down, an American Classic look. I still love wearing this look. I update it with the shoes. In the 2000s, I saw a photo of Victoria Beckham in a dress that looked like one of these expensive Chinese vases. Of course, it was white and blue. At that time, my Mom had adorable dishes in a white and blue onion pattern known as Zwiebelmuster in Germany. My nephew owns this treasure now.

Blue and white summer sheath

When I saw this blue and white sheath summer dress in February, I couldn’t resist. I had to have it. Unfortunately, March’s weather wasn’t cooperative at all with temperatures around -20F (-28.9oC) in the mornings and temperatures around 10 F (-12.2oC) around noon. But, finally, I got to wear it, even though in a “winterized” way. Thus, you get the Wear It Now post today. The Wear It Later will come soon when the snow is off the ground. So stay tuned 😉 .

Top of the World OOTDs

To support other fashion and style bloggers, I added a new feature to the Top of the World Style linkup party last week. A random generator picks one post. The blogger who submitted the post becomes the Top of the World Style Winner. S/he is featured at the next party in addition to the Top of the World OOTD Readers’ Fav and Top of the World OOTD My Fav. Of course, the winner also gets a cool logo for their sidebar, featured or awards page (see below). 🙂

Since the party runs a week minus 5 minutes, this feature will have temporal delay of two weeks for technical reasons. At the time of scheduling a new party, the old party is still in full swing and blogger still can join. To give all guests the same chance, the old party has to have closed before drawing the winner. In plain English, the Top of the World Style Winner visited the linkup party two weeks ago.

Laura Bambrick, the blogger at I Do DeClaire, became Top of the World OOTD My Fav. I have a confession to make. I had put my eyes on this shirt too, but hadn’t come along to order it. Budget, you know! I spent my money on shoes early in March. Anyhow, I love how summery she styled it. Despite of the romantic embroidery it looks professional enough for Casual Friday. ❤

Congrats ladies! Please grab your respective featured Top of the World OOTD button from my Linkup Page.
