Why I tried this product

JORD has long been my goto when it comes to unique wood watches. Recently, they extended their product line with a handbag & wallet collection. When they approached me to review one of them, I couldn’t resist. As a big fan of their wooden watches, I wanted to take a close look at one of their vegan leather bags.

What is the Binca

The Binca comes in burgundy, black or natural (shown here). It is a women’s zipper backpack with adjustable straps. Read it works for tall, average and petite women alike. The straps are made of color matched vegan leather which ensures comfort. This means no strain on your shoulder.

I love the Binca’s feminine with an edge touch. It’s created by the round edges that nicely offset the tough golden hardware of zippers and chains (see the photos above). These details work with all kinds of personal styles from Euro or American Classic, over Rock’n Roll, Casual, Romantic, or Bohemian Style to even Glam.

What I love about this purse

I expected that the product is a real statement piece. It surely is. The backpack is spacious and compact, the right combination for the everyday use of a modern woman. To give you an idea: I used it the first time for going out dancing. Thus, it carried my dance shoes, keys, reading glasses, makeup touchup, perfume, and wallet.

Do I have to mention that the backside of the backpack feels like it’s padded?

When you live in a region with a lot of snow or rain, you will like that there are four feet on the bottom of the purse. <3

What is Suberhide™ Premium Cork Leather?

Confession: I hadn’t heard about it before and had to research it. Suberhide™ is the World’s most durable luxury fabric steeped in natural Portuguese cork.

To produce this sustainable suberhide, a polymeric layer is fused over agglomerated cork. This process transforms the cork material into a tough yet adaptable elastic textile fiber. The resulting material is extremely resistant to wear and tear, hypoallergenic, anti-static (perfect for cold, dry weather), water and stain resistant and flame retardant.

Cork is a sustainable resource. When stripped of its bark, the cork oak regrows its bark. Cork oak trees are also environmentally friendly because they require no pruning, maintenance, or harmful pesticides.

Did you know that there are only three tree types that won't die when their bark is stripped off? #funfacts Click To Tweet

The suberhide feels soft like leather, but has the subtle texture of cork. However, in contrast to cork, it doesn’t fall apart upon bending it (see above photo of the front pocket interior for proof). Another property of the material is that you can use it like leather.

Who will like the Binca

The Binca is a great, unique backpack for the fun, energetic, and adventurous woman who likes to conquer new cities. Also, women who lead an active lifestyle will love the practical, but feminine bag. It’s also a stylish statement for First Friday exhibitions. It’s big enough to hold fliers and prospects and it keeps your hands free for signing up on email lists, have some fingerfood and hold a glass of wine.

Hint: This accessory even comes with a dust bag and a gift box. This means it’s also a great gift for busy moms for Mother’s Day! I definitely would recommend this product to my friends.

What I love about you, Nicole, is how you’re showing women over 40 how they can wear whatever they want! Yes to (certain) backpacks over a (certain) age! XOXO, Angie – Your true self blog

  2. Mr.Rios

That bag has effort dripping all over for it, and that’s a great thing! It is a bit of a stretch for those who pay for leather bags to pay that much without knowing the details; thanks for the review, Nicole, as it can give full confidence there IS an alternative to leather bag products! Lastly, wearing two types of animal prints with a neutral sweater dress was an intelligent choice! (You look great!)

Such a fabulous backpack! I saw lots of cork bags and jewellery on sale in Madeira – it really does look like leather. I always love to see good quality, sustainable vegan products. Love your coat and boots too!

I am currently reviewing their wallet and I LOVE it. First of all, I was so intrigued by the cork oak tree – so fascinating, right? The material looks beautiful and I’ve no doubt that it will be durable. Love how you styled that bag Nicole. And I like that it has “feet” to protect the bottom of the purse (and add stylish detail).

Considering I live in Portugal, I do love to see cork products available across the world. It’s a gorgeous backback, but it is quite pricey though!
