Mix Leopard and Plaid in One Outfit

It seems that I jumped the band wagon on fall’s mixing prints trend. O.K., plaid is also a fall trend this year or every year or an evergreen? Who knows? 😉 In this post, I show you an example of an eclectic style inspired business casual look. Mixing prints and patterns is only one way of many how to style non-boring outfits in all neutral colors.

Why This Tartan and Leopard Look Works

In this OOTD, I mixed plaid and leopard print. It works because the blazer and print have both various shades of brown. You can think of leopard as a neutral. Thus, the same colors are not as important in this case as when mixing other prints and patterns. However, to get a professional look neutral colors that occur in both separates are best. Ground the look with one solid color. In this example, black.

Stylist tip: Mixing leopard prints are other animal prints is tricky. When not done right, you may look like a walking ad for the zoo. 😉

Thanks to all of you who joined the party and linked up last week. Your outfits were awesome! Obviously, every fashionista likes when guys know how to dress. 🙂 The Readers’ Fav OOTD goes to the link you clicked the most which was Terry’s OOTD from The Style of Terry. Jen from Fashionably Employed became My Fav OOTD of the last party. If someone had said that orange and burgundy look great together, I would have made a skeptical face. Her outfit proves that this color combination can look awesome. <3
