Turquoise Is Not Just for Summer

Who says that turquoise is a summer color? Sure the Caribbean Sea has all shades of turquoise and stands as the symbol for eternal summer. The gemstome itself also is associated with sunlight and the heat of the American Southwest. Especially, when it is cut and used in beautiful Navajo jewelry.

What to Wear with Turquoise Boots?

This summer I saw these beautiful Jimmy Choo shearling booties on eBay with an initial bit of $49. Summer is a good time for buying boots on eBay as it is off-season. Then the competition by other biters is low. Thus, I got these beauties for a bargain.

I think the low initial bit also had to do with the extreme color, turquoise. Many think you cannot wear turquoise in winter. However, this color makes the boots the statement of any outfit. Given that winters last about seven months in Alaska, I  was looking for a pair of boots in statement color for a long time. It is boring to wear the usual brown, black, or gray boots every day.

Since I have many items in my closet that have a hint of turquoise, these shearling boots in turquoise are a great addition. The shearling provides great insulation* and the heel helps to have traction in snow packed parking lots. 😉 Wearing them with a LBD would make the boots the statement. The color also looks great with navy or beige.

Repeat the Color in Your Look

For this outfit I took advantage of the turquoise thread in the weave of the tweed skirt. Since outfits look so much better when a color is on repeat three times, I added the abstract floral print scarf from summer. You may have seen it lately in one of the Spy Girl sketches (see first photo in this post).

Do you buy boots or shoes in a statement color? If so what color would it be? What are your challenges styling them?
