What I Chose from Femme Luxe’s Store and Why

I browsed the page for clothing and trends that may look great on a midlife woman. Thus, I picked the mid wash Genesis flare jeans as a trendy update of what to wear on Casual Friday. Paper-bag pants are still a big thing and I love that style. For bouncing around on the weekend I picked the Evie camo print paper-bag waist trousers in white and in khaki both in UK size 8 (US size 4). Why the same type of pants twice? I wanted to test how the fit varies among the same size. Since Interior Alaska continues to produce cold air masses, a classic long thick sweater knit dress seemed to be in order. Who wants to throw style out of the window just because it’s cold outside? I picked the Penelope because of its work appropriate length and the modest turtleneck, just in case.

The Quality of the Attire Works Well for a Trendy Wardrobe Update

The camo pants are $26.08 each, the cream high neck knitted side split jumper dress costs $24.78, and the mid wash denim high waist flared jeans are $15.00. When I opened the package, I was happy to see that the quality of all four pieces exceeded my expectations. The clothing provides a lot of value for its price. None of the pieces looks cheap. This is very important for a midlife fashionista. Who wants to look like you rioted your daughter’s or even grand-daughter’s closet?

This means that all four products solve their intended function, a late winter update of cold weather weekend and work style. See the snap shot photos of me wearing the attire in the wild of Alaska. I definitively would buy them when I had to pay for them.

Always Take a Look at the Size Chart

Sizing differs among manufacturers. Thus, make it a habit to look at the size chart every time you order clothing online. Even when it’s the same online store.

Typically, the difference between two sizes is one inch (2.54 cm) for the smaller range and two for the medium and larger range. No matter whether you look at bust, waist or hips.

The white camouflage pants are a little bit smaller than the khaki trousers. However, it’s within the natural variation of the width of seams. That’s great.

The flared jeans run rather on the smaller side. Thus, when you are between sizes you may be better off with the larger one unless you still want your jeans super tight. I love that the front pockets are fake. It means less bulk and keeps the tummy looking flat. 😉

Who Would Love these Garments?

I think the knit dress is a great choice when you are looking for a comfortable, but classic sleek work dress for cold days. For looking your best wear it with a full slip underneath. Doing so avoids that it sticks to your underwear when it is cold and dry outside. Add a belt, pearls and tall boots. It’s an instant winter work outfit. See this guide on how to wear a knit dress over 40.

When you love the paper-bag trend, the camouflage trousers are a great casual option for the weekend. You can find them in the Femme Luxe camo collection.

When you loved the high waist flare jeans with short zipper of the 1970s, the Genesis will call your name. Style them in a modern way and you are good to go on Casual Friday.

When you fall in one of these groups, I can really recommend the attire.

Those two pairs of camo pants are really fun! I have learned to size up when skirts have a zipper closing so they are more comfortable. Starting to do better at checking the sizing charts after a couple of mistakes.
