Whistle River gingham blouse review

Why this gingham blouse is a must-have for me

When I saw this Tennessee blouse with a diagonal front placket at Whistle River,‘s online store, I had to have it! The 45o off-set of the pattern in the front placket creates such a distinctive look. It stands out from the crowd of gingham shirts. I immediately fell in love with the interesting twist on this classic, evergreen pattern.

Instead of the traditional color plus white, the charming red is paired with a pale blue and white background (see photo below). From far, the eye merges the white and light blue to a cold gray. This genius design permits wearing the item also in fall and under a sweater, blazer or cardigan also in winter. I love when a piece of clothes works for more than one season. Additional benefit: The twist makes the piece suitable for the office as well, i.e. more versatile than the traditional color plus white!

Crisp cotton and adjustable cuff mean stylish comfort

When I opened the package, I was positively surprised about the high quality cotton. One usually pays much more for 100% cotton that looks crisp and stylish. No women in midlife likes extra bulk around her upper arms. The sleeves are cut with us midlife women in mind. The slim-looking long sleeves still allow us to roll them up to 3/4 length. Consequently, one can comfortably wear the shirt on cool summer days. The long sleeves have an adjustable single-button cuff, i.e. one button whole and two buttons on each cuff. This means great comfort no matter whether you have thin and wide wrists. Extra benefit: You have an additional styling option.

The Tennessee blouse is a perfect wardrobe update for women over 40

To look your best every wardrobe needs an update every season. My fall wardrobe was in need of a new blouse. This one find fulfills several of my style criteria at once:

  • Classic pattern with a twist,
  • Deep color,
  • Classic cut without pockets,
  • Works for more than one season,
  • High quality fabric,
  • Can be styled up for the office and down for a casual look, and
  • Classic point collar.

In addition, the shirt is pre-washed and machine washable.

This blouse is a perfect fit for women over 40 because of its flattering cut. The higher hem line at the hips than back and front permit wearing the shirt untucked, half-tucked, front-tucked (see photo styling inspiration with white BF jeans) or full-tucked (see photos with maxi leather skirt). This means you can hide love-handles, your hips or bum (see back view photo with white jeans) or emphasize your waist like in the outfit with the maxi skirt. Another great way to
Draw attention to your waist by knotting the tales. #styleadvice Click To Tweet

Price-performance ratio

At only $49.99, the high quality cotton blouse is very affordable. Given the versatility of the piece, one can wear it often enough to get the cost-per-wear under $1, which is my criterion for a great deal.

I definitively can recommend this well designed Tennessee diagonal placket red gingham blouse from Whistle River to my girl friends and readers.
