Why I Chose the Latico Kaye in Eggplant For the Review

What caught my eyes were the edgy details and different neutral color options: gun metal leather studs on the exterior, the exposed zippers, and eggplant, cognac or olive besides the classic black.

I was looking for a different neutral than the classic black to switch things up. Because people rarely carry a purse in these neutrals, no matter which of these neutrals you pick, it will stick out of the crowd of classic neutral-color bags.

There is no easier and safer way to make a statement than donning an often overlooked neutral color.

Because I already own a cognac purse, and because more of my winter outerwear works with eggplant than olive, I ordered the eggplant Kaye.

What Are the Features of the Latico Kaye Crossbody?

This purse consists of 100% full-grain leather. Because each hide is unique there are natural variations in the grain texture and shading. Both kinds of variations are hallmarks of high-quality leather.

The Kaye is 8 in, 0.25 in and 6.75 in (20.3 cm, 6 mm, 17.1 cm) in height, width and depth, respectively. The adjustable crossbody strap is 0.5 in (1.3 cm) wide and 30 in (76.2) long with a minimum drop of 15 in (38.1 cm) minimum drop. Consequently, every gal from petite to tall can carry the bag comfortably.

Access to the main compartment is via a zipper on the front of the bag. I was very glad to feel that the studs are attached thru the leather. Consequently, they won’t fall off like glued-on studs often do. Because of the fabric lining, the studs can’t harm you new manicure. In the interior, there exist four card-pockets to keep you organized.

The front zip pocket is perfect for tickets and your metro-card. The back pocket with hidden magnetic snap-closure allows fast access to your cell phone.

Because of its functional design this purse will be a go-to for everyday.

Tip: When you need reading glasses, a foldable style would still fit in the back or small front pocket.

Note if I would remove my huge key-chain accessories, I could add a pair of sunglasses.

Because having your hands free is important for young mothers, grandmothers watching the grandchildren, it’s a no brainer to style this crossbody leather bag with carefree casual clothing. For the same reason the piece is also ideal for travel, sightseeing, grocery shopping and running errands. Consequently, pair it with this types of outfits.

Quality, Craftsmanship, and Price-Performance Ratio

The butter-soft leather has heirloom quality. Because it has the same quality as my nearly 2-years old Harbor crossbody bag, I can assume that the Kaye’s leather will age as nicely as the Harbor. This signature sheen and patina forms over time simply due to being worn and exposed to the elements. This beautiful antiquing effect is a sign of high-quality genuine leather that you don’t find in vegan bags.

Seams are straight, the studs have equal distance from each other. The fabric is tightly woven and well sewn in. Zippers are metal and sturdy. These are all signs of great craftsmanship. For all these reasons, this purse will have a long tenure in my daily wardrobe.

This means Latico leather items get better with age and wear.

Consequently, given the price of $165, the piece is very affordable. The price-per-carrying will go below one dollar in less than half-a-year when used everyday. However, unless you loose the piece due to whatever, it’s a purse for a lifetime.
