Start udating your fall wardrobe before fall arrives
This weekend, it felt already like fall in Interior Alaska. Occasionally, it rained cats and dogs – as if there were a need for even more dogs in this dog country. The raspberry, cranberry, and rhubarb leaves are turning already red. It looks beautiful though.
This reminder of Mother Nature made me dreaming up my fall wardrobe. Staring early gives your much more options. Being ahead of the fall shopping gives you the pick at the litter. The later you start or when you get into the peak of fall wardrobe shopping weeks the higher is the risk that your size is sold out. This fact is especially true when you are on the upper or lower end of the size chart.
My dream wardrobe for this fall
Of course, my dream wardrobe encompasses items I already own. Not even a heiress would buy all new clothes each season, right? Here is what I would buy to update my wardrobe for fall, if I had the money, and how I would style it with pieces I already own. Enjoy my dream wardrobe.
I would wear this wrap dress (left photo below) with a light trench coat and pumps in early fall and with tights, booties, and a layering top and half slip underneath and a light wool coat later in fall when temperatures drop around the freezing point.
As you know, I have a knack for hounds tooth and sheath dresses. I would wear this hounds tooth dress in fall with red pumps or my lace up fall sandals, and pair it with a red or green layering tops and black tights and booties later in winter. My fit-and-flare blazer (photo below) is the perfect cover-up on the commute to work. Wearing a sweater over the dress would make it a great skirt and another great fall outfit.
I love this denim colored cardigan. I would pair it with my white denim boyfriend jeans and a striped T-shirt. It could also extend the time I can still wear my summer dresses in fall. We all love our colorful comfy summer dresses, don’t we? They give us the feeling of freedom and evenings in the Sun, vacation, time with friends and family.
Interesting hemlines are so It
I would also look great with the scallop hem skirt. I have a skirt like this on my wish list for a long time. I now have to do the next steps of my fall wardrobe. 🙂
Floral prints and classic patterns are evergreen fall updates
You can’t go wrong with abstract floral prints in fall inspired colors of your color palette or classic weaved patterns like hounds tooth, glen-check or herringbone. They are worth the investment even when you are on a budget. It’s important to know when to splurge or bargain.
