A dress with a trendy new print is a great way to update your wardrobe
Trendy cool, crazy, weird – you name it – print dresses are a great way to update your wardrobe. Since you never know how long the trend will last, it shouldn’t be expensive, but have a classic cut. Alternatively, you go for an It designer. When I saw this sheath dress online at Shein I ordered it immediately as it fits my bill: Classic posh cut plus an It print.
Unexpected prints make a sleek dress a statement
I love Victoria Beckham’s sleek designs. A couple of years ago, I splurged on this silk fall dress. You have seen it on the blog in various outfits, for instance, worn as a shirt, I love the cut, color combination, and the print. Dresses on a dress. How genius, or should I say genia (The female form, I had to take Latin for 5 years!) is this idea? Not the usual floral print, polka dots, squares, triangles, but dresses!
I love her designs, but I would like a bit more fabric towards the “south”, i.e. a bit more leg coverage. Thus, I recently sew this lace underskirt to wear under this (and other dresses). It’s basically a recycled half slip. I sew on two rows of lace so I could wear it as an underskirt and elongate dresses that don’t have my favorite length. I love my hems to be just above the knee. Thus, sort of my sweet point for length.
How to style a Victoria Beckham cat dress
The next photo shows a dress designed by It designer Victoria Beckham. When I saw a photo of Victoria Beckham wearing this sleek cat dress in a magazine, I had to have it. I love the salmon color and cute cat print of this beauty. Well, I love cats. When one looks from far, the print looks quite interesting. You have to come close to realize that the print are white and red cats. I also liked the sort of late 1920s cut with the drop waist and the interesting sleeves.
This dress is quite girly, which is not my usual style. Moreover, I’m about a decade older than her. Thus, to style the dress along my personal preferences, I added studded pumps to give the look an edge. I also added a white silk scarf and wear it the Indian way, i.e. hanging down in the back for interest. I pinned the scarf to the dress so the scarf does not slip away or gets blown away by some wind gusts. For more tips on styling with scarves see the post at the link.

Printed sheath dress outfit ideas
There is something cool and practical about sheath dresses. They are very versatile. You can make multiple outfits with a sheath that look completely different. Plus depending on the material, they work in three seasons.Sheath dresses are so versatile as dress, skirt, top, with cardigan, a layering top or shirt underneath. #budgetfashion Click To Tweet
The many different colors of the print make it easy to wear the dress in different ways. A sheath with a turtleneck underneath is an instant work outfit for the cold season and rescue last minute dressing problems.
I wore the attire to work this week in different ways. See these unique looks. Yes, I know, I shouldn’t wear the same piece one day after the other and not more than twice a week. However, I was so excited about creating new outfits. And anyway,Who said you can't wear a piece two days in a row in different outfits? #breakoldfashionrules Click To Tweet

Cat dress outfit ideas
The next photos show the cat dress styled for a cool summer day, summer evening or air conditioned office. Just pick a color of the print like here black. Red and white would work too.

Conclusion: No reason to fear an unusual print
When you love a print and are in the market for the piece it is printed on, go for it when the cut is classic. Crazy prints are as easy to style as colorful geometric or floral printFriends don't let friends wear bad outfits. #agelessstyle Click To Tweet

Top of the World Style linkup No 150
Welcome to the 150th Top of the World Style linkup party. First I want to thank you for linking up in the past and being here to help me celebrate.
Let me introduce you to the featured bloggers from last week’s Top of the World Style party.
You clicked Penny’s post the most, which means she became Top of the World OOTD Readers’ Fav. Penny is the 71 years old fashion blogger at Frugal Fashion Shopper. She lives in Brighton, East Sussex and showed her great cruise wardrobe that she got for little money mainly because she buys from charity shops. It’s amazing that one can find such great pieces like her awesome cocktail dress in these stores. Try it out. You can’t only save money, get great outfits for a bargain, but also protect the environment by recycling. Don’t know how to shop in consignment stores? Check out the post at the link.
Nina the fashion and beauty blogger at Sharing a Journey caught my eye with her tweed Chanel jacket and the Chanel inspired toe cap shoes. She did such a great job resisting to go down the Coco lane. Instead she paired these classic French pieces with an old time American favorite – the blue jeans. These three classics make such a modern posh chic look! Nina became Top of the World OOTD My Fav. There is just something cool about blending items that seem not to go together like a western cut with eastern print or the so French tweed jacket with the so American “Is in every closet” jeans.
Osy the beauty, style, and lifestyle blogger at Style Diary by Osy won the Top of the World Style Winner title. She looks awesome in this statement color. This month is her birthday. Thus, happy birthday.
