Winter is typically the time for more muted, neutral colors to reflect the weather. However, here are a few ways to add color to your winter wardrobe without sacrificing the style and sophistication you want. Adopt a few of my best tips how to add color to your Winter wardrobe.

A Bold Coat

The first and easiest thing you can do is to add a bold coat to your wardrobe. Not only does this allow you to keep your regular wardrobe as is, but it is also ideal for those looking for a pop of color without changing their whole wardrobe.

Pair your coat with velvet tunic tops, a polar neck, a T-shirt, or a button-down, and keep the rest of your wardrobe simple to let the coat shine.

Statement Shoes

Much like the coat, colorful shoes are the perfect way to get the pop you want without having to commit to a full outfit. Not only can you choose anything from a pair of heels to a pair of sneakers or boots, you can pick any color you want.

When wearing a neutral-colored outfit, any shoe color will pair well with it. You can also use the color wheel for inspiration, as colors on opposite sides may seem very different, but they pair very well together.

Accessories

Accessories are another brilliant way to add color and mix and match different colors. Considering you can wear a beanie, gloves, and a scarf all in one outfit, you can go down the monochromatic route, or opt for three of your favorite colors.

Let One Item Shine

One of the best ways to add color and ensure it is the center of attention is to champion one piece of clothing. It is easy to do with a coat as it will stand out either way, but there are ways to achieve the same thing with smaller, more subtle pieces of clothing.

For instance, accessories like bright socks can shine when combined with a pair of cropped or rolled-cuff pants or jeans. A colorful shirt can be the star of the show if worn under a jersey and the collar peaks thru.

Color Block

Color blocking is another great way to make colors pop even more, and add a level of sophistication and style. In simple terms, color blocking is pairing a neutral top with a colorful bottom or vice versa.

For instance, a bright top with a black pencil skirt is a great combination, and is also ideal for the office, a date, brunch, and everything in between.

Best Winter Colors

Now that you know how to add color to your Winter wardrobe, here are a few of the best colors that are ideal for cold, dreary days.

Important note: Here winter colors refers colors typically worn in winter, not the deep, true and bright winter colors of the 12-seasons color palette.

Burgundy

Burgundy is a rich and eye-catching color that works perfectly with tops, skirts, pants, shoes, and everything in between. It pairs well with off-white, creams, and khaki, and can also add a touch of classic chic to most outfits.

Aqua

On the other side of the spectrum, aqua is a light and airy color that is more associated with Summer, but this is precisely why it should be part of your Summer your wardrobe. Aqua can add a touch of freshness to your cold-weather outfit.

Camel

Camel is a timeless Winter color choice as it adds warmth and richness to any look, and can pair well with almost any other color you may own. Even though it isn’t as bright as a red or green, it will most certainly pop against a gray sky or when you’re making your way thru the snow.

Blue

Similar to aqua, blue is most certainly more associated with Summer, but it is also a great choice for Winter. Firstly, a deep blue coat is ultra-sleek and catwalk-worthy, and secondly, a blue handbag gives you a small touch of subtle color and can pair well with most outfits.

Brown

Similar to camel, brown is easily one of the best Winter colors out there. It is warm, and cozy, reminds you of hot chocolate, and is the perfect Winter cottage core color out there. Whether it be boots, a jersey, a coat, or a scarf, you most certainly need more chocolate brown in your wardrobe.

Rich Red

For a hint of sultry Winter sexiness, you need to opt for a rich or oxblood red. It screams cocktail evening in the 50s, and can brighten up your day no matter the weather. For a throwback to the 1990s, a pair of oxblood boots is ideal.

Powder Pink

While the color doesn’t have the same punch as Barbie pink, powder pink is classy and timeless, and during Winter, it is the perfect way to add some color, especially to your work wardrobe. A powder pink pantsuit can easily become your next favorite office outfit.

Wrapping Up: How to Add Color to Your Winter Wardrobe

In conclusion, it is very easy to add color to your Winter wardrobe in a way that most definitely does not sacrifice style, but only adds to it. Whether you fully commit to a bright wardrobe by investing in a coat or pantsuit, or you keep it more subtle with a bright accessories, you will easily stand out from the crowd.
