Who Is Embody And What Does Embody Do?
Embody is a woman and immigrant-owned company that makes and sells edible, delicious skincare gummies. These supplements are designed to improve people’s skin conditions from the inside out. The founder and CEO Jenn realized with Embody her dream of a skincare you can eat that targets skin problems at its roots.
What Is the New Embody Sun Gummy?
The Sun gummies contain, among other things, Marigold extract, vitamin C, polypodium leucotomos, and selenium. Marigold extract is known for speedy skin healing and repair. Like Vitamin C it boosts collagen production. Selenium keeps dark spots at bay, and helps maintaining cell structure. Polypodium leucotomos is a South American species of fern. It is an antioxidant that helps to maintain cell structures, to protect against environmental stressors, and to keep skin elastic.

Together these ingredients are to hydrate and plump the skin, improve its texture, and decrease fine lines.
Can the Sun Gummy Replace the Application of Sun Screen?
No. However, a double-blind study revealed that people taking the polypodium leucotomos were more likely to show decreased UV-induced erythema* intensity compared to those taking the placebo. Furthermore, the former also were more likely to experience reduced pigmentation after sun exposure than the latter.
Therefore, the Sun gummies can contribute to a healthy sun-care regimen of applying high SPF sun cream, and wearing UPF50+ sun-safe clothes.
S.O.S.: An Edible Way to Relieve Itchy, Dry Skin
According to my experience, the S.O.S. gummies are awesome to reduce itchy skin that results from dry air. You don’t have to live in Interior Alaska or at high elevation in Colorado, for instance, for exposure to dry air. In climate regions with cool winter, the heated indoor air has low relative humidity even when it is rainy outside.
The gummies’ active ingredients are vitamin D, MSM, evening primrose oil, and zinc. Vitamin D is not only good for smooth skin, but also very important for your mood. In my first Alaska winter, I made the experience of feeling moody, without energy, and tired due to vitamin D deficiency. Due to the short daylight hours (insufficient sunlight) my natural vitamin D production was marginal.
According to the NIH, over 40% of the Americans have vitamin D deficiency due to spending too much time indoors, and not eating foods high in Vitamin D.
This means not only Alaskans.
MSM and zinc help the collagen production. Zinc also supports wound healing, keratin production, and reducing redness. Evening primrose oil serves to lock-in moisture.

The Retinol Gummies
The Retinol gummies contain, among other ingredients, vitamins A, B, C, folate, and a retinol serum aka retinyl acetate (C22H32O2). My first reaction was
What?! Can you eat Retinol?
After some reading I learned that in the body, retinol is converted to retinoic acid, which is a more powerful form of vitamin A. Furthermore, retinol has many functions in the body, but one of its most important is regulating cell turnover.
Retinyl acetate has the same benefits than Retinol including fading discolorations from sun exposure.
Actually, Retinyl acetate is a naturally-occurring fatty acid ester form of retinol (vitamin A) that has anti-neoplastic properties and chemo-preventive activities. When applied topically to the skin it serves to reduce the effects of aging and acne. Retinyl acetate is a gentler version of vitamin A than the retonic acid that is contained in retinol prescription drugs. This information reminded me of my teenage years when I had to apply retonic acid topically to fight/reduce my acne breakouts.

You may recall from your health classes that B vitamins are key to form essential fatty acids needed to nourish, hydrate, and plump the skin. Folate supports the development of healthy skin cells. As said before, vitamin C boosts collagen production. Together, these supplements help to reduce the appearance of fine lines, and wrinkles.
Where to Buy Embody Skincare Gummies?
Each month-worth of supply (60 gummies) of the Retinol and S.O.S. Gummy supplements costs $28. The recently added new Sun Gummy rings up at $32 for a 60 gummies container. Admittedly, these price tags are a bit higher than what you pay for an over-the-counter drugstore retinol-containing cream, skin-brightener, or wrinkle-reducing cream. On the other hand, the supplements are less expensive than the typical, affordable brand skin-care products. In addition, many of the supplements’ ingredients also benefit other body organs than just the skin.
Tip: The ultimate skincare bundle consists of one-month supply of all three types of skincare gummies, and costs only $76 instead of $88.
You can buy the S.O.S., Sun, and Retinol gummies at Embody’s store website.
Pssst! Embody offers free shipping over $50.

Hi, Nicole – This is a great review because I never thought of adding skincare to my vitamins list! I had the same reaction as you, too, about taking retinol internally. What a weird thought. Thanks for this unique review! – Angie, yourtrueselfblog.com
Sounds a great way to get nutrients fast. I get so bored with trying to swallow large vitamin and other pills. Thanks for linking!
