With Winter in our midst, you may be wondering how you are going to style your favorite pair of loafers with your Winter outfits. Here are a few tips to not only remain super-stylish, but also warm and cozy.

Choose Leather

First off, before you even create your outfit, be sure to wear leather loafers. Whether they are women’s heeled loafers or a brand new pair of chunky loafers, make sure they are leather.

Depending on where you live, especially in the Northern Hemisphere, winter brings very cold air with temperatures and rain at the very least, and bitterly cold air with heavy, snow at the most. Leather is not only weather-resistant but also keeps your feet warm throughout the day.

Opt Chunky Soles

Another thing to remember is to choose a pair of loafers that have chunky soles. Ice can be an ankle breaker if you aren’t careful, and the last thing you want to do is step out of your door in the morning and slip within 30 seconds.

However, chunkier soles will often offer more grip than regular shoes, and while they aren’t slip-proof, they will make it easier to navigate icy roads and sidewalks, and at the very least, give you more control when walking.

Wear Warm, Fun Socks

It should go without saying that you should wear socks for warmth, but when wearing loafers, they play an additional role. Loafers typically don’t have the same vamp as regular shoes, meaning more of the top of your foot is on display.

This means that your socks become part of your outfit, and because of this, opt for great socks that complement your look, not just the first ones you find. If you are wearing a more neutral-colored outfit, a pair of bright socks can bring some fun and color into your look.

Sheer Tights

If you don’t want to wear pants and would prefer a pair of sheer tights, loafers are the perfect shoes to complement them. One of the easiest outfits to create is combining a chunky, knitted jersey with a skirt, sheer tights, and your loafers.

This is also one of the warmest ways to still wear a skirt in Winter, as without the tights, your look will be out of place, and you will almost certainly get very cold as the day goes on.

Cropped Pants

One of the best things to match with loafers is a pair of cropped pants. As mentioned above, the lower vamp of a loafer means most of its details and eye-catching aspects can be hidden when your pants are too long.

Instead, especially in Winter, opt for cropped pants that show off your loafers, as well as the fun, vibrant pair of socks you chose to wear with them.

Pair with Winter Colors

While not a necessity, it is always exceptionally chic when your shoes pair well with your outfit. In Winter, we tend to wear more neutral and muted colors, such as blacks, browns, greys, and sometimes dark greens.

Keep this in mind when matching your loafers with your look, and choose a color that complements your outfit, and doesn’t fight with it. If you want to experiment, use the color wheel to see which almost opposite colors actually complement each other very well.

Balance Proportions

It is always important to balance the proportions of your look, and that doesn’t change when you are wearing loafers. This style of shoe can be broadly categorized into two sections, namely chunky and slim.

If your loafers are more streamlined and slim, wear clothes that match this, such as tailored trousers, a pencil skirt, etc. If they are chunky, wear them with tights, a big coat, etc.

Transitional Looks

Transitional looks are some of the best at the beginning and near the end of Winter, mainly because the depths of the cold haven’t arrived yet, or have already left. A transitional loafer look is also currently trending all over fashion magazines and within the world of celebrities.

A simple example of a transitional look would be wearing a pair of short shorts or a skirt, a T-shirt or vest, your loafers, and a trench coat or warm jacket. This look will keep you warm if there is a chilly, but taking off the coat or jacket will cool you down if it gets too hot.

Experiment with Hardware

Finally, loafers come in all shapes and designs, and nowadays, you can find many that have silver or gold details, buckles, etc. Because of this, you can use your loafers not only as a shoe, but also as part of your accessories.

This is particularly useful for someone who likes to keep their looks clean and simple, but is always looking for a way to bring in a bit of color or shine to avoid looking too drab.

Conclusions on Wearing Loafers in Winter

In conclusion, styling your loafers for Winter is far easier than you may think, and there are plenty of ways for you to do it, and even more ways to adapt them to your wardrobe. Whether it is a freezing cold snow day, or a warm, end-of-Winter morning, there is a loafer look out there for you.
