Wear summer basic with items from the cold season

In this OOTD, I paired pieces from summer with pieces from the colder season to get thru the late summer rains. August is the rain season, which often lasts into September. Fall is very short here in the Interior. Often the first flurries fly mid to end of September. Anyhow, late August/early September feel like rainy November weather in Germany without the wind. Thus, pairing a warm season skirt with an autumn sweater seemed the right answer to the liquid precipitation when I was actually hoping for an Indian summer.

For the commute to work I added a trench coat. The different shades of taupe make this outerwear a monochromatic look. It works due to the different textures of the individual pieces.
