What Are the Best 2024 Trends for Women over 40?

Here is a list of what are the best trends for women in midlife.

The trending colors are all neutrals including the shades of blue, metallic, gold and abstract leopard. Therefore, except for the abstract leopard print they are worth the investment when they are in a classic cut with a twist.

Capri pants work for tall women with long legs. Rock them if that’s your body shape. Bomber jackets in leather are an evergreen in black or brown. Perfect for windy summer days as coverup.

Paisley is coming back. Jumpsuits, scarves, and jeans never really are a trend, nor go out of style. Velvet is coming back for winter.

The hoodie trend is declining, but wearing a hoodie is still a Do.

Pantsuits are a big trend, but wearing a suit may be risky for women in midlife.

The Worst SS2024 Trends for Women over 40

Here is a list of the worst SS2024 trends for women in midlife.

  • Mini Shorts
  • Corsets & Corset Lacing
  • Dropped Waistline
  • Mermaidcore (mermaid-inspired looks)

Mini shorts and corsets look like trying to hard on everyone over 25. When you worked hard to get your waist back or keep your midlife belly at bay, why would you want to hide your achievement with a dropped waistline dress? Mermaid looks are cute on kids and a statement in prom style and evening wear. However, the style looks costumery at daytime.

Which Trends to Invest in when It Works for You?

  • Paisley scarves,
  • Classic cardigans and sweaters,
  • Work attire in your neutral colors,
  • An original style bomber jacket, if you don’t own one already.

What Is Trending in Footwear?

  • Shoes with plateau soles are It, but became less bulky. When you are a petite, you may love that extra height. They can also help to create the illusion of a lean look aka hide a couple of pounds.
  • Ruby-red slippers or pumps,
  • Metallic strappy sandals,
  • White booties,
  • Sneakers with neon-color sole.
  • Ballet-inspired footwear,
  • Gladiators,
  • Statement shoes in fashion colors with satin fabric and Rhine crystal encrusted,
  • Chartreuse.

How to Deal with Trends over 40

And yes, we have seen so many excerpts from fashion weeks over the years. Everything seems to blur. In the end, we buy, and wear what we like. That’s fine when you go with fast fashion. These pieces are not meant to last.
