Worry about what is worth worrying
We all worry about things. It can be about a variety of things. And even things we enjoy like dressing up. How often did you stand in front of your closet clueless what to wear for an occassion?
Never worry about the right outfit again. Buy my book How to Dress for Success in Midlife to just look it up.
Some situation are easy to overcome
These are those you have control over. For instance, to stay with our favorite suject fashion and beauty, creating a great outfit for a successful job interview and your grooming for the event. Of course, you have no control over the questions they will ask.
Notice the signals
Often we just feel nervous or even anxious and we don’t know why. The feeling holds us captive, drags us down and may even may impair us to take a move. We feel like the mouse in front of the snake, wondering what to do. While this example is a live threatening situation, most situations aren’t. So take control about what is in your power. Ask yourself “Is the current problem real or just hypothetical?”
Hypothetical analysis and reaction
In case of a hypothetical situation, how likely is it to become real? 10%, 90%, 100%? What is in your hands to have an impact on the outcome? For example, one out of seven women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her life. Thus, from a statistical point of view the probability to get breast cancer is about 14.3%. There is no preventive measure. All you can do is going to your annual mamography every year. Just do that and stop to worry about it. It’s not now, the probability is serious, but you do all you can. Now switch the topic, have some fun and check the superchic spring and summer trends to add to your wardrobe for the upcoming warm season.Stay calm. Do what you can, and don't worry about the rest. It’s a current problem like for instance “I need a mother-of-the-bride dress for a beach wedding.” That’s the what. Now when do you need it? Now? Like in two weeks, next week like yesterday would have been better? Dress for shopping to save time when dressing and undressing in the fitting room and hit the mall.
Now? Just improvise with what you have. When life throws you a curve ball, make the best out of it and keep going. Click To Tweet
What it your fault? Take it as a lesson and do better next time.
Not your fault? Perfect, it’s not your problem. You did the best you could with s… somebody else caused. And always rememberWhen you see a piece of poop, step over it! Click To Tweet
Staying with the example scenario, but now let’s assume it’s not an emergency wedding, but well planned ahead, i.e. your kid just called you to give you a several months notice. Get informed about trends in wedding attire, the colors of the bridal party, and the dos and don’t of mother-of-the-bride dress shopping. Then make a plan, may be even a plan A, B and C (that’s me 🙁 because Murphy’s law says when something can go wrong it might.). Schedule what has to be don’t and just do it asap. Problem solved. Go on with your life.Keep calm and get the job done! Click To Tweet
