A long duster is a must-have this spring/summer
One of the trendy items of this spring/summer season is a long duster. Since they have a classic cut they are perfect for us over 40. Think of it just as a blazer, but longer than a blazer. I added one in Army green to my wardrobe. A neutral color is always a great when you intend to wear a trendy item at the office. However, they also have a similar version in gray and a more trench coat style version in olive if that’s more you.

My pick for the season
This March has been one that long-term residents call “a March like in the Old Days.” Whatever that means, it had been a pretty dry and cold March. While the weather was lovely – for me all weather with blue is lovely – it was not the best prerequisite for wearing my newest additions to my wardrobe. Anyhow, I was so eager to wear my new duster that I found at Shein.

Mix winter and spring clothes in the transition between these seasons
I styled this duster with a cotton sweater, dress pants and booties for a work appropriate mature look. Fuchsia, olive and black are a great color combination. It is the two neutrals plus a pop of color scheme. Of course here the coat is not my outerwear, but it will be at the end of spring and in summer and fall. I wore the duster instead of a cardigan or a blazer.

Make clothes so you
When you are a regular reader of my blog you know that one always has to check the size chart at Shein to make sure one orders the right size. I also recommend to check the measures of the model. Comparison of her height with yours helps you to access where the item’s hem will be on your frame. When I picked the coat, I knew it would be maxi on my 5 ft 4 (1.63 m) frame, as it was tea length on the 5 ft 7 (1.75 m) model (see photo below).
Unfortunately, I did not think of taking a photo, but I assure you it looked great in maxi too. However, I shortened it to Italian length, i.e. just around the knee. This length looks most flattering on me. It was very easy to do. To my experience all items from them are easy to adjust with respect to the length. Thus, we 40 plus women don’t need to worry about the length when we shop their items presented by the tall Millennia. <3

I chopped the sleeves up for a stylish look and to show off the sweater’s sleeve and the bracelet and my wooden sports watch.

How I will wear it later
Here I showed how I wear the duster now. Once it gets warmer, I will swap the sweater with a white T-shirt and the booties with pumps or sandals and add a colorful scarf or neckerchief. The long coat also will look awesome with my white denim boyfriend jeans and a graphic black T-shirt and a pearl necklace. Of course, styling this beauty with khakis and a Tee or jeans and a Tee are great options too.
