Glen check the It plaid of this winter

Glen check is a big trend this winter. Since this weave is a timeless classic, it’s worth the investment. Thus, plunged into the trend and splurge to get a high-quality wool glen check piece like a skirt, blazer or pair of pants.

I invested in a midi pleated glen check skirt at the beginning of this cold season. You have seen this skirt already earlier this cold season. I styled this glen check wool skirt with a leopard print cardigan. In today’s outfit, I paired the heritage pattern with a leather vest and leopard print tights.

Glen check is office appropriate

Glen check blazers, pants, skirts and coats work in casual, business casual and corporate style work settings. It just depends on how you style the pieces. Glen check is much more versatile for work than a classic tartan or Buffalo pattern. Both don’t work in corporate settings. A tartan blazer, skirt or pants in neutral color may still work in some business casual setting. But a classic red and black Buffalo plaid jacket is only appropriate in a casual or creative work place.

A glen check skirt, pair of trousers or blazer meet most work dress codes. Click To Tweet

How I styled the glen check pleated midi-skirt

This time, I went for an edgy look with a motorcycle studded vest and leopard print tight. The brown sweater is the grounding piece. The brown color occurs in the skirt, booties, sweater, and tight. The black of the vest is repeated in the print of the tight.

Floral outerwear in winter

For the commute, I wore my floral down coat. I added a black leather beret, another big trend of this cold season. This outerwear mixed print of floral and leopard is grounded by the black beret and structured bag.

The brown booties work in this outfit because the brown is repeated in the leopard print. Actually, I first tried my black Harley Davidson booties. However, I found both looks, the actual outfit and the outerwear outfit more interesting with the brown than black booties. Maybe it’s because the brown booties are less expected. Sometimes going thru the extra effort of trying out different options lead to a cooler look.

Do you try out several accessories or shoes to find the most interesting combination? How do you come up with new outfits? Which trends of this cold season did you adopt? Which trends are on your wish list?
