Best outfits of October | trend tip

Looks you loved most in October

Time is flying! Halloween passed this weekend which is the start of the holiday season for many of us! I decided to get ahead of the curve of Black Friday and last minute shopping. I already bought a couple of wardrobe updates as gifts.

Silver leather pants with gray GNW Luxe cashmere sweater and Moda International light gray cashmere cardigan, light gray leather belt, DKNY socks, Hermes collier de chien bangle, and snake print fall booties for a casual, polished look (all own)

It is also time for October recap. You liked use fall’s pastel trend to recycle your spring clothes the most. Saving on trends is always a good idea as trends are very short lived.

Lookbook asymmetric fit-and-flare blazer – review was the post that got the most views.

Everybody loves a good deal, wants to look fashionable, but at an affordable price when it comes to trends. We love trends to update the basics and work horses in our closet like the jeans, the denim shirts, the button-down shirts, the cardigans and sweater vests.

This outfit is a mix of trends (cheap) and essentials. I got the silver leather pants on sale, while the cashmere sweater and cardigan are essentials that I spent comparatively more on. With both I look for a good price performance ratio. That means the longer I expect to wear an item the more I would be willing to spend on it. If I go for trendy items and have in mind to wear them for a season, let’s say 20 times, the price per wear should go down to at least less than $2. Why would I spent money on silver leather pants? Well I am a ballroom dancer. Thus, I get lots of opportunities to wear silver leather pants. This also means that a great trend item for one person will not be a great deal for another. The price per wear for these trendy silver leather pants would never go down to $2 per wear for someone who is not a dancer. The take home message: Buy the trendy items for the life you live.
