Prologue
Last week, my friend’s son accompanied her to work. After job shadowing his mom for more than half a day, he wanted to have suggestions to do something else. She and I were discussing some work logistics when that happened. She suggested that he would design a dress for me.

Fashion inspiration
On this day, I was wearing the above outfit – a shirt with small polka dots in black, and a pleated skirt in blue with medium size polka dots. This means I was breaking at least two of my late mom’s fashion rules to never wear black with navy, and never do two prints in one outfit. I was embracing the “new rules” of black and navy are so chic together and the trend of stylish mixing of prints and patterns.

The next generation fashion designer
The young man wasn’t seen for at least two hours. He came back with a design of a dress for me. I think this dress (next photo) looks pretty cool. I really like the idea of a long and short sleeve. It seems very practical when you work a lot with your mouse on your computer. You don’t need to chop that sleeve up to avoid harming your clothes. 🙂

He also captured me pretty well modeling. He had seen me at various fashion shows/events in town. He is quite observant. He styled the dress with ankle booties that I wear a lot in winter.

He gave me his design and permitted me to show it to my readers on High Latitude Style. I think he has great talent. May be he will become one of the next generation of fashion designers starting out young like Jason Wu. What do you think?
