My New Year’s resolutions for High Latitude Style

What will be new on High Latitude Style

I will run a styling contest each month. I will announce the item to be styled, i.e. the styling challenge for the next month on High Latitude Style in the previous month’s post. Participants will email me a photo at of how they style the clothing item and address the styling challenge of that month. Please write Styling Contest in the subject line. In the email, please provide your name, blog’s name if applicable, location, and age. Giving the age decade is good enough, for instance, 40+ when you are over 40, no matter whether you are over 50, 60, but don’t want to disclose it. The deadline for submission of a contribution will be the 15th of each month. Readers and bloggers of all genders and age can participate. I will post six submissions on my facebook page on the 16th of the month for a week. Please search the hashtag StylingContest. The outfit post of these six posted looks that gets the most likes within that week will be featured on the blog in the next call.

January’s style contest

The styling challenge for January will be Styling Outerwear. You can find inspirations on styling outerwear in the post at the link or in my style book How to Dress for Success in Midlife that you can buy at the link.

What stays the same

Linkup parties

The purpose of fashion and style linkup parties is for bloggers to connect with each other and network as well as getting exposed to a wider audience. Bloggers who dump and run miss out big time on their opportunities. Readers benefit from browsing thru linkup parties to find new interesting blogs. It’s like one-stop shopping for fashion and style blogs and faster than any search as the thumbnail gives already an example of the blogger’s style.

Thus, the Top of the World Style linkup party will continue to go live every Thursday at 12 am Alaska Time (4 am EST). You still can link up to the 14 days holiday Top of the World Style linkup party.

I will continue pinning a photo of the linked up posts as a Thank You and to promote your blog on the party’s pinterest board. I made this board a group board. When you are interested in pinning all the photos of your linked up post to the board, please follow me on pinterest (Pinterest requirement to add you), and send me an email with the request to be added. I will send you an invite. All you then have to do is to accept and start pinning. What are you waiting for? 😉

Co-hosts wanted

When you are a blogger and interested in co-hosting the party in getting a free feature on my blog, please contact me by email to discuss details. Are you in?

Series and reviews

Analysis of the data has shown that the How Tos including the Ageless Style Series and Review Posts were among my readers’ favorites in the past. Thus, I will continue to do them on a regular basis. I also will continue to write about Alaska lifestyle, story telling, and provide Alaska insider travel tips on Mondays in Focus Alaska. Of course, the typical OOTD for special occasions in Alaska will be in the mix.

Look of the Day: Thermal skirt over 50

Today’s OOTD, for instance, shows an example of what one could wear to watch the New Year’s Eve fireworks on the University of Alaska Fairbanks West Ridge in College, and then go bar hooping. Of course, you would wear a long cute down coat and a hat as outerwear. I wear a long sleeve layering top underneath the sweater, and doubled the tights. Did you know that in Fairbanks, the New Year’s fireworks starts at 8 pm Alaska time December 31 (12 am EST, January 1)? No kidding! 😮

However, tonight I will watch the fireworks in my PJs drinking a hot chocolate. We are lucky to have a view onto the West Ridge from our living and bedroom windows. 🙂 <3 What are your New Year’s Eve plans?

Are there specific subjects related to midlife fashion, style, beauty and health or Alaska lifestyle that you want me to address? Please let me know how I can make the series and reviews even more helpful and the Alaska posts more interesting for you in 2017.

I will continue to provide fashion and style related giveaways for my readers. They are fun and allow to try something out what one otherwise would not do due to budget restrictions or other logical reasons.

Outfit posts, expert roundups, etc.

Of course, I also will continue to post my outfits and compile expert blogger roundups. Stay tuned. When your New Year’s resolution is to look to your best in midlife, subscribe to High Latitude Style. Deep inside you know when I can do it you can do it too.

What are your New Year’s resolutions? What are your resolutions regarding fashion and style? What would you like to read more about? Are there specific subjects related to midlife fashion, style, beauty and health or Alaska lifestyle that you want me to address? Please let me know by email how I can help you.

Celebrate safely and have a Happy New Year!
