Summer work outfits are challenging over 40
In the warm season, dressing for the office is challenging for every women when the dress-code asks for business casual or corporate style. A skirt or pants suit in summer wool is just too warm in muggy weather and even dry heat and the commute and at lunch break. Linen or cotton suits are a wrinkle nightmare and hence not very stylish. Furthermore, do these dress-code typically require at least short sleeves. The solution for the summer work dressing challenge are dresses.Dresses mean instant summer style when paired with the right bag and shoes. #agelessstyle Click To Tweet

When wearing dresses creating different looks can only be achieved by different styling of the dress. This means you need to be creative using different accessories to vary the look. Proof for great work looks created with Zaful items
For this post, I created three office-appropriate looks that work for women in midlife. My criteria for the clothes were to
- fit typical work dress codes of conservative work environments,
- provide coverage at the typical problem zones of women in midlife like arms, love handles, wide hips, or sun damaged cleavage,
- have an ageless style, but modern vibe,
- be suitable for lunch with colleagues or clients outside,
- be comfortable in the air conditioned office,
- be easy to style with other pieces to create several office outfits with the same dress,
- work in the winter to spring transition as well as the summer to fall transition with items from the cold season.
Zaful monochromatic outfit with pop of color
This beautiful high-low hem ruffle hem pale pink A-line dress in the photo below is perfect for midlife woman with a pear-shaped body who wants to hide her hips and feature her legs. Since the hem is above the knee, flat shoes are best. The pink flats with Rhinestone give the look a feminine vibe despite no curves are high lighted. The hunter green faux patent leather bag gives the outfit a polished sophisticated look. The links in the figure caption lead directly to the respective pieces on Zaful’s web page. When you like something, be aware they sell out fast.
Other styling options
Of course, brown and pink are always nice together. Tan kitten heels and a saddle brown bag will make another great look. Sure, pink with black is a no brainer. I also would pair it with burgundy shoes and tote. During the transition season a brown layering turtleneck top underneath, brown tights and booties look great. The same look also works with black or gray.
Zaful shirt dress
A shirt dress is an eternal classic. The beauty in the photo below shows a classic cut with a wavy vertical line pattern. This print gives the illusion of height. The black also has a slimming effect. Black, white and tan give various styling options. The length of the dress asks for a heel. Tan, white or black pumps or bags work with this outfit.Resist the urge to match your shoes and bag. It's so yesteryear 60s sort of. #midlifestyle Click To Tweet
The tan sandals and white belt shown in the last office outfit of this post would also work with this dress. Break the old fashioned rule of three colors and add red pumps, or a red bag or belt. Make sure red occurs three times in the look, but avoid red shoes plus red bag. For instance, a red scarf or brooch or necklace, or bangle, all do the trick.
Wear it now and latter
During the transition season add a short cardigan in one of the prints’ colors with tights and boots. Try a sweater in these colors and belt it with a different color.
When long sleeves are a Must
This striped work look inspiration in the photo below is great when the dress-code requires long sleeves. Again the stripes of the attire and dark color have a slimming effect. The colors naturally help with easy styling. For the brave adding red is an option. The length of the hem asks for heels. The cut works also well with pumps and in spring and fall with tights and boots or booties. A tan or blue belt would be nice in the transition season. Make sure you find the right width of the belt for your body shape.
Like for the other two office looks, the direct links to shop the look are given in the figure captions.
