Last OOTM: How to wear a pleated skirt

Wow, it is already October! The holiday season is right around the corner starting with Halloween. October is also Breast Cancer Awareness month. Early October also means the recap of what you loved the most to read about in September. Let’s dive right into it by showing you how to wear a pleated skirt in fall. It was one of the last outfit shoots we made last month.

I originally bought this skirt for dancing as the pleats make for a nice twirl when spinning. However, since pleats are having a moment I put the skirt in the day-wear rotation. Here I styled it the edgy street style way with sneakers and a denim jacket, graphic Tee and a statement necklace worn Jenna Lyons style – over the jacket (see featured photo). I added a scarf and designer bag in a similar color as the Tee.

Most read and liked posts of last month

The post with the most new likes was Never buy a statement piece, when you need a workhorse. We all have been in the situation that logic and the budget required to kiss off the statement piece we were in love with and buy the piece that we ready needed. We probably also have all learned the hard way that dressing becomes a nightmare not to do so. One ends up to be a fashion victim, which is never a style to go for.

The post that got the most views in September was the review of the Sympli drama dress. I really love this dress as I can wear it for work and going out dancing. I get a lot of compliments each time I wear it. It doesn’t wrinkle and is perfect for travel too. <3

Focus Alaska series

Focus Alaska is a weekly series here on High Latitude Style featuring Alaska curiosa, lifestyle, wildlife, street style, weather, and insider travel tips. In September, subjects covered were a Fairbanks Fashion Show that featured fashion from the last 80 decades, how Alaskans up-cycle even waste, and how a big invasion of voles destroyed half of our potato harvest.

Ageless Style Series

The Ageless Style Series addressed what to look for when shopping for leather clothes. Stay tuned, there will be a soon another issue on how to style leather to look posh chic in midlife.

The issue within the framework of the Ageless Style Linkup part featured how to style a summer skirt for fall. Since fall is just around the corner or has already arrived in the northern countries, an evaluation of the best and worst trends for women over 40 was in order. Clear plastic foliage clothes anyone? 😉

On another note, October’s Ageless Style Linkup party is already live and features 10 bloggers’ take on how to wear your clothes beyond their original purpose. You still can join the party at the link.

Stefanie, the fashion blogger at the Style Safari became my favorite of last week’s party. I love this new suit trend. It’s not so stiff as the pants suit trend of the 80s. On the contrary, this trend is so fun, and posh chic. <3
