Transition Season Maxi Leather Coats Are A Style Statement

You don’t buy anything maxi every day. Thus, a long leather coat is a statement frock, and hence a luxury item. Typically, anything leather is a transition season item in cold winter climates. Only in the South, they work as winter coats.

Living in Interior Alaska, one does not get much wear out of transition season clothes. In spring, the time between still needing a winter coat and no coat at all can be as short as 10 days. In fall, the time is a little bit longer. Thus, Alaskans typically do not have much transition clothes and work with layering instead as I demonstrated in the last three weeks or so.

How to Wear a Maxi Leather Coat

Here I am wearing my long leather coat styled with black ankle strap pumps, black tights. I wear shorts and a corduroy shirt with long-sleeve underwear for warmth underneath the coat. It feels like good Old Winter is just around the corner.

Maxi Leather Duster “Winterized” by Layering

Once the temperatures drop into the single digits, the hide becomes too cold. Even this one with quilted lining. However, you can still wear your favorite long duster with layering. In this example, I added a faux leopard print vest underneath. It not only increases the insulation, but also look very stylish.
