Just Fashion Now – a Great Resource for Cheap Trendy Designer Pieces
As you know I am always looking for places where to get trendy updates for a classic basic wardrobe that works for women over 40. Recently, I stumbled upon Just Fashion Now – a fast fashion online store. They work with upcoming designers to offer up-to-date pieces in designer boutique quality at affordable prices. For this post I collaborated with them to provide you with a review of two items of my choice.

Blue Maxi Dress for Fashion over 40
Every woman needs a long maxi dress for summer, no matter of her age. Just Fashion Now has 166 beautiful Bohemian style maxi dresses. This style works great for us over 40 as long as we wear it in a modern way, i.e. not like reliving the 60s and 70s. Since casual maxi dresses are more tricky for us, I picked this jersey casual straight dress with drawstring belt, crossed V-neck, and long side slit that ends just above the knee.

The high slit shows off one leg in a very sexy Angelina Jolie way, but it is low enough that you can sit down without showing your bum. The wrap style V-neck has enough space for even a large breast. It falls like draping on my small boobs (cup AA). The drawstring belt gives your a waist. Of course the larger the boobs the more the dress turns into a classic Empire style. This cut is genius!

Where to Wear this Maxi Dress?
The fabric flows nicely without clinch, i.e. perfect to hide some shape problem. It also feels so super-soft on the skin that I didn’t want to take it off.
This blue maxi dress is perfect for the weekend, shopping at the Farmer’s Market and vacation. It pairs easily with a denim jacket (white or in other shade of blue than the dress), a shawl, scarf. Shoe pairings go from canvas over strappy sandals to plateau wedges, espadrilles to even Birkenstock or alike orthopedic shoes.

The price is just $21! 🙂 The cost-per-wear can go below a dollar in two beach vacations or a summer.
Blue H-line mini dress
When the blue chiffon H-line shift arrived it was wrinkled from being pressed during transportation. When I saw that I was like “That’s not what we need.” I ironed it on low and the wrinkles went away fast. That was the first thumb up! I feared that this beautiful piece would be wrinkled by the end of the day, which it was not! During wear it did not set new wrinkles. I really like that. Thus, thumbs up on this point too!

How to Style this Shift Dress?
They advertised the blue shift as a mini dress. While most of us are not looking for a mini dress, this beauty is a versatile trendy wardrobe update even for mature women. Of course, this blue mini shift is nice for girls-night-out or date-night with cute ballet flats when your legs are your best feature. However, the reason why I picked it was that I saw the item’s great potential beyond its original intended wear. You can wear the dress as top with a pencil skirt at the office (see photos). In addition, you can wear it with pants as a tunic for the dress-over-pants trend. Adding a belt will shorten the length to tunic length if needed.

It is also available in gray, black and green. I love the bold color of this shift and the detailing on the sleeves. The sleeve length is perfect to hide not so well tuned upper arms and show off the lower arms or an arm party. I think this piece is a great trendy wardrobe update we women over 40 can wear without looking like we rioted our daughter’s or niece’s closet. It works with skirts, but also as a dress-over-pants look. Thumbs up again!

And the price? Just $15. Another thumb up. It’s a cheap statement/trendy update for the summer work wardrobe that gets a cost-per-wear under a dollar fast.
