A trendy item can become a workhorse

I bought this pleated silver skirt in spring this year as a trendy addition or update of my basic wardrobe. In earlier posts, I had styled the silver skirt with a floral bomber. I also styled this skirt with a denim jacket. Last week I showed you a street style look with this silver skirt and a motorcycle jacket.

Athleisure plus pleated silver skirt equals street style

In today’s outfit post, I want to show you another street style look with my silver skirt. This time, I paired the skirt with my fuchsia sport jacket, tights and booties as temperatures dropped into the double negative digits (less than -23oC). I used the silver as a neutral. Black, of course, is also a neutral. Thus, the outfit falls under the broad category of neutral look with a pop of color so to speak, i.e. pretty simple. The tension between the sport jacket and the preppy silver skirt create interest. The studded booties add an edge.

A floral down coat is not boring at all

Since it was pretty cold, I debuted my new floral down coat that I had added to my coat wardrobe for this winter. I had my old one since 2001. This means a new one was over due since more than ten years. Why did it take me so long to buy a new one? Well, like most women I hate down coats! Most down coats make you look like a female version of the Michelin man.

Take your time to find your perfect down coat

I was looking for a down coat in a sleek cut with belt. I also wanted small compartments for the downs as the downs are subject to gravity. The smaller the compartments, the more even the insulation from the downs stays over time. You can find more details what to look for in a down coat at the link.

I also did not want a white or pastel down coat as they – in my opinion – look often like my granny’s down beds. Not to mention that these down coats look boring. I wanted a non-boring down coat with a look-at-me floral or camouflage print, may be an animal print, but not a solid color. Well some posh street style.

You can imagine my excitement when I found this beauty on eBay for just $199 plus shipping, i.e. in total about $220. The floral print ups the mood on a cold winter day when everyone is wearing black. 😉

I have to admit it takes some courage and nerve to wear the coat. It is very street style. But I love it. <3 And I give a damn about that I am over 50. The coat looks posh on a midlife woman too. Period.
