Feminine prints need the right cut for ageless style
There are prints, pattern and fabrics that are considered ultra-feminine. One of them is gingham. It’s also an eternal classic like polka dots, pin dots, floral prints and lace. Unfortunately, these very feminine prints and pattern may lead into the cute, naive territory when paired with certain cuts. However, when worn right, they can look very preppy. When you have many pieces with these prints, you most likely have Romantic Style. This post addresses how to style ultra-feminine pieces in a way that you are taken serious.
Double dipping and usage of sustainable clothing
Just recall Brigit Bardot‘s yellow gingham wedding dress. So romantic! Perfect for her naive girl image at that time, despite she was resourceful – the dress could be worn as a summer dress later. While it is a great summer dress for any 20 something, it’s not great for us. In a casual work environment, the 20 something may even get away with wearing it on Casual Friday at a meeting during summer time.
Similarly a Laura Ashley type floral print or super-large polka dots are made for girls less than 10 years old and clowns, respectively. It’s all about how to look ageless in floral prints, how to wear polka dots, how to have ageless style in lace, how to style gingham, you name it. You can find the gingham shirt review post with two other preppy looks at the link.
The trick to look serious in ultra-feminine pieces is to style them with classic or casual pieces. #preppystyle #preppyoutfit Click To TweetGingham outfit inspiration for Casual Friday

A great casual look, great boots too. Jacqui Mummabstylish
This is a fun look, Nicole. I’ve been meaning to pull my gingham top out, but it still feels a bit too spring-y.
You can never go wrong with gingham! I just love those red boots with this top!
Carrie
Very cute spring look, Nicole! I really like how you elevated your gingham shirt by popping the collar and adding red pumps to your look. You are giving me some good ideas!
I absolutely love red gingham for spring! This is such a great outfit!
