Actually, at least in regions with cold or extreme cold winters, one should still dress according to the weather on Easter. This means wear cold weather gear when needed. Not spring outfits! However, on Easter, any cold gear is so yesterday. The catwalk for the new spring outfit is the curbside, church and/or queue to be seated or at the buffet! Read how to dress your best without catching a cold or looking out of place. Get inspired by these easy to copy Easter outfits.

Easter Outfits in Alaska

In Fairbanks, going out for Easter Brunch or dinner is a big dress-up thing. No matter how cold it is still outside, ditching the tights and boots and going bare leg in sandals or pumps is a Must for Fairbanks women and girls of all ages. The new spring dress gets its first appearance. Boyfriends and husbands alike drop the female part of their party at the door of the restaurant because it is impossible to walk in heels or sandals in the muddy dirty unpaved parking lots. Furthermore, it is still way too cold for their ladies’ spring dresses as Easter outfits. Well, springtime in Alaska is 40 below.

Why is Dressing for Easter a Challenge?

To dress your best for Easter Brunch or dinner is a challenge. On one hand, it is a family and religious event. On the other hand, a brunch, dinner or social event. The squaring of the circle so to speak. 😉 Take the usual brunch dress code or dinner dress code of the restaurant in mind and dress it up a notch.

Stylist tip: Keep in mind that tons of photos will be taken. Thus, last year’s dress won’t do the trick because family members most likely see you only so often. They will remember it!

When the celebrations are at a family member’s home, the dress-code is more difficult. Your best bet is an upscale version of what is worn at family meetings for birthdays. Always pick an outfit that gears on the side of timeless. Your outfit should not cause a major laugh attack of your kids, nieces, nephews, grand-kids – you name it – when looking at the photos in ten, twenty, thirty years. More on what to wear at a family reunion in the guide at the link.

To be on the safe side, dress for the weather.

Easter Outfit Suggestions

Now what to wear? Go for a classic spring skirt-top combination or dress with floral or other timeless print and an “office appropriate” (read modest) neckline. Add no more than one trendy statement piece! The best “trendy” part would be some of the colors of the year. Go for slingbacks, pumps or classic sandals with a heel no higher than 2.5 inch (5 cm) if the weather and place you goto permits. They are easier on your feet when standing in line for a long time. Have a cardigan in a color that matches the dress to cover up. At this time a year, it actually is still too cold, for the spring dress you will wear. You also need the cardigan to stay warm, as you want to wear a light transitional coat. Wearing a winter coat with spring/summer shoes looks plain ridiculous!

Remember, you don’t want to be the family clown or the family’s fashion victim.

Steer away from any solid color dress in pastels. You don't want to look like a walking Easter egg! 😉 #Easteroutfit Click To Tweet

What Colors to Wear

Even tough it may be still cold, go for the pastel colors of your color palette. Caramel dress pants with a white blouse and a floral print scarf in pastels make a cute spring-inspired look. When pastels wash you out, stay with the lighter colors of your color palette. Salmon pink looks great on almost everybody. Try adding light spring inspired colors with a scarf like in the featured outfit.

Stay away from solid clothing in Easter egg colors.

My Easter Brunch Outfit

Yes, I went with two new items, a pair of trendy paperbag cut pants and a new belt. The belt is a gift my husband gave to me. He knows that I am crazy about belts. I found the denim booties when shopping on eBay.
