Why You Should Start Dreaming Up Your Fall Wardrobe Before Fall Arrives

This weekend, it felt already like fall in Interior Alaska. Nearly all August, it rained cats and dogs – as if there were a need for even more dogs in this dog country. The raspberry, cranberry, and rhubarb leaves are turning already red. It looks beautiful though.

This reminder of Mother Nature made me dreaming up my fall wardrobe. Starting early gives your much more options. Being ahead of the fall shopping gives you the pick at the litter. The later you start or when you get into the peak of fall wardrobe shopping weeks the higher is the risk that your size is sold out. This fact is especially true when you are on the upper or lower end of the size chart.

My Dream Wardrobe Additions for This Fall

Of course, my dream wardrobe encompasses items I already own. Not even a heiress would buy all new clothes each season, right? Here is what I would buy to update my wardrobe for fall, if I had the money, and how I would style it with pieces I already own.

LBD with ruffle arm whole
Ever Pretty LBD.

Ruffles are a great trend this season. I love the ruffle detail at the arm hole of this LBD. I would wear it with black lace tights and pumps for going out dancing or date night. For everyday I would style it with one of my Halftees underneath and matching or black Hipstik tights and boots. A brown halftee underneath and my brown OTK boots would make a great look too. More on how to wear ruffles at any age.

I would wear the mustard cable knit jacket with my leather pants and white button-down or denim shirt. When it gets colder, my red or green turtleneck sweater would be great pairing.

Well, jeans go with nearly everything.

I had a Teddy coat when I was in elementary school. This pink one is so cool. It would work well with jeans, black or brown pants.

I need a new pair of red pumps and black booties. The sling backs and hat are just for fun.  I love cable knit and pink. This sweater would be great with brown, black or gray pants as well as any wash of jeans. See this post for a look I wore in the 1980s that will be again ago with this sweater.
