Thanksgiving is a family holiday with a lot of food and fun. Some families do their own home-made turkey dinner, others go out for brunch or dinner. Some families use the opportunity to join somewhere at a resort for a family reunion. Some families invite friends over to watch football, …

There are many traditions. These events of course all have their own dress codes. Some events are very low key – read cozy casual for a football watching invitation, while others can be tricky, for instance, what to wear for a family reunion.

When you are going to a restaurant keep the restaurants dress code in mind and up the look a bit for Thanksgiving. In this post, I show some outfit inspirations that work for brunch at a casual, but conservative restaurant or hotel restaurant.

A fall floral dress with long blazer (photo above) works well for Thanksgiving brunch in the south where temperatures are still above 60F (15.6oC). When wearing a long blazer with a dress, make sure that the dress is either 2 inch shorter than the blazer (i.e. wear the blazer as coat) or substantially shorter than the dress.

A de-saturated outfit always has a posh chic vibe even when leather and a graphic Tee are involved. This outfit also works where the atmosphere is still warm enough to just wear a leather jacket outside for some minor insulation or wind protection.

When you live in cold climate, don’t forget to style your outerwear. Your coat and whatever shows from your outfit make an outfit too. This outerwear look need styling too to look your best. here I picked up the colors of the embroidery of the coat.

A monochromatic look is also a chic possibility for brunch. To keep this monochromatic look interesting, I picked pieces in neighbored colors of the same color, i.e. varied shade and hue. You can find further tips to create a chic monochromatic look at the link.

Top of the World OOTDs

The Top of the World Style Winner is picked by a random generator from the party two weeks ago. The reasons are as follow: Each party runs a week minus 5 minutes. At the time of scheduling a new party, the old party is still in full swing and blogger still can join. To give all guests the same chance, the old party has to have closed before drawing the winner. In plain English, the Top of the World Style Winner visited the linkup party two weeks ago.

The winner of this week’s feature is Jenna the lifestyle blogger at Rain on a Tin Roof, who submitted her winning post at the 136th linkup party. The thumbnail by Tatiana Moskatova, the blogger at My Fabulous Forties was the one you clicked the most. Thus, she became Top of the World OOTD Readers’ Fav. She styled her LBD perfectly. She could right join a Thanksgiving dinner at a fancy restaurant in this look. It’s a great outfit inspiration, in case you don’t know yet what to wear to your Thanksgiving dinner invitation tonight.
