Alaska is a men’ state with only 47.6% women. Today I want to introduce you to one of them, Tammy Gray, who has a banking career of 28 years – working in corporate and community banks as a commercial lender. She now uses her talents and expertise as a mortgage specialist working for an Alaska non-profit organization. Furthermore, she is a philanthropist, and business owner as well as a mentor for (young) women wanting to build their own business. She is a typical example of a woman’s success story in a men’s world.

No, she had not to give up being a woman. She adopted Marilyn Monroe’s motto “I don’t mind living in a men’s world when I can be a woman in it.” In addition to the above, Tammy is a founding style ambassador of India Hicks in Alaska.

The fashionistas and fashionister among you may have heard about this UK born designer or know her from her modeling career that started at Ralph Lauren. Some of you probably remember her as one of the bridesmaids at the wedding of the late Princess Diana.

Now, how does Tammy Gray come in? India Hicks’ mission is to provide women the tools to run their own business on their own terms, sharing their own and India Hicks’ stories, and
inspiring each other. Well, that mission is exactly what Tammy has done in all her adult life by being a role model for women who wanted to go into “traditionally” male dominated jobs including becoming a business owner. In her role as a business women and India Hicks style ambassador, she continues her mission with a strong partner.

As an independent ambassador of India Hicks Tammy sells great perfumes, candles, beautiful bags, tassels, as well as token pendants, necklaces (photos above), and scarves like the one shown in this post. The perfume samples Tammy sent me (photo below) smell sophisticated, feminine and powerful at the same time. One perfume has notes of beach and orange flowers with hints of honeysuckle and sandalwood, the other rose and peony petals with hints of freshly cut grass. The right smell for a woman making her way in a men’s world.
