Why Are Summer Clothes so Exciting?

It doesn’t matter whether it is the new dress you bought for summer or whether it is your favorite dress from last summer. In spring, we gals are all eager to wear our summer items to up our mood thru the last chilly days. We fight our winter wardrobe boredom with spring fashion layering. In fall, we are all in denial and want to keep wearing our summer favorites. Somehow the summer clothes don’t bore us at all. Maybe it’s because the long school free time in summer when we were kids or just because we just like the long days and the less restrictive dress code.

I love the high-low hem of this dress’ design and the nice cleavage. However, in Alaska in rarely gets warm enough to wear this dress.

Wear It Later

An easy way to transition summer pieces to fall is to pair them with items from our winter wardrobe. To extend their wear into fall, pair them with items of similar color from your cold season wardrobe. See the photos below for an example.

Add matching shoes. The result looks like a pencil skirt with a sweater. To downplay the contrast between the summer and winter pieces repeat the lightest color (here white) by adding two accessories in that hue (here the belt and scarf). The result: a fresh colorful outfit for work. To not freeze to hypothermia wear a half-slip underneath the sheath. Nobody will know that little secret. As outerwear add a transition season coat.
