Musings on styling a winter favorite – Fair Isle sweaters
This look is one of my favorite winter outfits. My Fair Isle sweater with my leather pencil skirt, Kieselstein Cord belt, tights, and suede boots. It sounds weird, but I think it looks great. I get a lot of compliments when I wear this outfit. I can imagine that a shorter pencil skirt with a hem just above the knee also would look great with a colorful Fair Isle sweater, colored tights and booties. A straight mini leather skirt and colorful Fair Isle would look great with wool socks and duck booties. The latter option is certainly not for me, but the former one I would definitively wear.
The look has an eclectic vibe
What I also like about this outfit is that it is so unexpected. Typically, Fair Isle sweaters are worn with wool pants, or jeans. When paired with a skirt it is usually a jeans or some maxi skirt for a Bohemian look.
Style your outerwear too
My outer outfit was more along the expected line even tough the coat is my latest purchase. Why expected? I bought again a motorcycle cut as if a white motorcycle jacket, and a motorcycle shearling jacket weren’t enough, I also have a lodden motorcycle coat!
My new coat is a Cole Haan aubergine shearling. At least, it said on the web that the coat is aubergine. I think it is burgundy, which is even better than aubergine. I paired it with my burgundy beret, and my burgundy scarf. To finish my “second outfit of the day”, I added burgundy gloves and a black structured bag.
What was latest purchase? do you also have a cut that you buy over and over again so it becomes sort of a signature for your style? What cut is it? Let me know, I am curious.
