A vintage jacket with a classic cut and leopard print looks modern

This jacket is a gift from my grandfather, Opa Oskar, when I was 13. My father went with me to the store and picked this one. I loved the leopard pattern, but was not sure about the diamond pattern. However, my father convinced me that I would wear this jacket for ever, while I would not do so with the other one I had laid my eyes on. As you see, I am still wearing it decades later.

When we moved to Alaska, I was thinking whether I would be able to wear it as it is just a short jacket. Well, it works as long as it does not go below 0F (-18oC).

Pill box hats are great vintage finds when you can pull the style off

In this OOTD, I wear a hat that is a vintage find. It is even older than the jacket and looks quite Russian. May be it is even from Russia given the high Russian immigrant population in Interior Alaska. In this outfit, I think I look like a Russian doll. May be it is this outfit, why many people think I am from Russia when I make them them guess.

Wear layers for extra insulation

Underneath my Eli Tahari leather dress, I wore a half slip for extra insulation, and a leopard print cashmere sweater. The Dior over-the-knee boots are an eBay find. I love not only their style, but also that keep my knees warm. Thus, they allow me to wear a jacket instead of a heavy winter coat. For extra insulation I wear tights that have a flannel coating inside.
